基本行程
This course offers a unique samurai experience at the only temple in Japan associated with Warring States period warlords. Myōkaku-ji, founded under the order of Ashikaga Yoshinobu, the 9th shogun of the Muromachi shogunate during the Muromachi period, is known as a representative temple of the Warring States era, linked to famous warlords such as Oda Nobunaga, Saitō Dōsan, and Date Masamune. Enjoy running around the temple grounds and immersing yourself in the samurai experience.
Moreover, the staff consists of real samurai who appear in period films. They have spent years mastering the discipline and movements of the samurai to portray them authentically. As professionals in filming, they understand how to showcase beautiful sword fighting and present a samurai's appearance that looks great on camera. We promise you the best experience and stunning visuals.
● Chambara Experience
You will receive thorough instruction on how to hold a sword, stance, and cutting techniques known as makō, kesā, and nuki-dō. By the end of the day, you will have acquired the fundamentals of being a samurai. Additionally, you will learn the movements necessary for engaging in sword fights, allowing you to move like a samurai.
● Kimono Dressing Experience
In Japan, there is a deep understanding and systematic technique for kimono dressing. Many Japanese people take a long time to learn how to properly wear traditional clothing. You will learn this structured Japanese dressing technique and actually wear a kimono.
● Etiquette and Meditation
We will explain the samurai code of conduct and principles known as bushidō. You will learn about the way of life and mindset of samurai, followed by a quiet moment of meditation together.
● Sword Fighting Show
The instructors for this plan are active actors in jidaigeki. In modern society, samurai are relics of the past, and there are no real samurai today. However, samurai continue to live on only in films. Jidaigeki actors have deeply studied bushidō and have maintained their training for many years. They will showcase their samurai skills in front of you.
● Live Sword Fighting Demonstration and Filming
We will move to the impressive grounds of Myōkaku-ji, where you will engage in the samurai experience you learned. Myōkaku-ji has hosted many Warring States warlords over 400 years ago. It is a rare experience to engage in sword fighting in the exact location where those warlords wielded their swords, transcending time and space. Being able to wield a sword in such a historically significant location is a unique privilege. Of course, you can also take photos.
(This concludes the samurai training dojo.)
● Special Viewing of the Main Hall
The precious main hall, built under the order of Ashikaga Yoshinobu, the 9th shogun of the Muromachi shogunate, is registered as a designated tangible cultural asset of Kyoto Prefecture and is only accessible during special viewings. However, in this plan, we will guide you to the main hall while still in your kimono throughout the year, allowing you to see the moss-covered garden "Hōsien." This is a rare opportunity to take photos in a kimono in a private setting.
