Sake is a key part of Japanese culture, from its traditional brewing methods designated an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO to the many celebrations where it's served, enjoyed and shared. With countless varieties and subtle nuances, however, exploring the world of sake can be overwhelming at first. That's where the guidance and knowledge of a professional proves invaluable.
Hide, your host is an English-speaking sake sommelier who uses his extensive experience living abroad to share his passion for the sake of the world. With contagious enthusiasm, he will show you what makes sake so special, how to differentiate between varieties, and how to find the best variety to suit your tastebuds.
You'll start with a 30-minute workshop led by Hide on all things sake. Learn about how it's made, its many varieties, and its impact on Japanese culture. What are the unique processes of making sake? What kind of rituals and ceremonies feature sake? Find the answers to all your pressing questions from Hide.
Next, enjoy tasting up to 10 varieties of sake from across Japan. Guided by Hide, you can choose from over 50 varieties, from dry to sweet, cloudy to sharp, sparkling or still. Your host will support you in finding your new favorite and even purchase a bottle to take home if you'd like.
