We offer a heart-warming tea ceremony experience at Kenrokutei in Kenroku-en, one of Kanazawa’s most popular spot. Kenrokutei is a historic place where the lord once entertained important guests.
In this wonderful setting, you can experience Kanazawa’s tea ceremony culture and Japanese traditions. The tea experience includes a demonstration of the tea procedure by the master, followed by an opportunity to make the tea yourself.
There will also be an explanation of the basics of the tea ceremony and how to use tea utensils, so even those who are new to the tea ceremony can participate without worry.
We hope that this experience will give you a deeper appreciation of the charm of the tea ceremony.

Our place is located in Kenrokuen Garden. An entrance fee(320yen) to Kenrokuen Garden is required separately. This ticket does not include the entrance fee to Kenrokuen Garden.The garden is not visible in the tea room, so please enjoy Kenrokuen, the garden of the lord Maeda, before or after the experience.
Participants are only allowed to attend if they are aged 7 years or older. This is because the event is held at the same time as other groups and we would like to keep the event quiet and enjoyable.

Basic Itinerary
In front of fountain in Kenrokuen
Meet at the Kenrokuen Fountain. This is right in front of Kenrokutei. Kenrokutei staff will meet you here. Please enter Kenroku-en on your own.
Guided tour to Kenrokutei
Staff will escort you to the Kenroku Pavilion 'Lotus Pond Pavilion'. Please wait and watch the fountain.
Explanation of the tea ceremony
Explanations of the tea ceremony will be given in English.
Includes an explanation of 'a cup of tea' to be made.
The tea is served by the proprietor. The set includes beautiful Kanazawa tea cakes.
Includes an explanation of how to make your own tea.
You will make your own tea. You will be given detailed instructions on how to use the tea whisk.
Stroll around Kenrokuen Garden (disperse on your own).
After the event breaks up, visitors can enjoy a walk in Kenrokuen Garden.

Meet in front of the fountain in Kenrokuen Garden. Our staff will meet you in front of the fountain at the signboard of the Tea Ceremony Experience at least 10min before the starting time.
