Uncover Naha's spiritual heart and hidden gems on this cultural cycling adventure. Wind through atmospheric backstreets to discover sacred zodiac shrines, traditional neighborhoods, and local secrets rarely seen by tourists. A unique blend of spirituality, history, and authentic urban exploration.
The tour is designed to allow you to experience a little-seen part of Okinawan culture. Cycling around the back alleys of the city with your local guide, you will embark on a pilgrimage to the various Zodiac shrines of Naha and Shuri. You will have the chance to witness modern-day Okinawans observe worship traditions dating all the way back to the Ryukyu Kingdom era. This is your opportunity to experience for yourself shrines, temples, sacred springs, royal mausoleums, and more in the unique Ryukyuan style.
If we're lucky, the kami (gods), bodhisattvas, ancestors, etc. may look favorably upon you and your kin!

Please gather at the shop near Makishi Monorail Station (1-minute walk).
We’ll pick up the electric bicycles and begin with a simple briefing so everyone can ride safely and comfortably.

Here you’ll find Kannon Bosatsu, the guardian deity of the Ryukyu Kingdom, along with beautiful carvings and decorations. From the vivid vermilion temple, you can look down over the town of Shuri.

We pass through a local Naha neighborhood where several traditional houses remain. Upon arriving at a temple that has conveyed Okinawan Buddhism for over 500 years, you’re welcomed by an ancient-style gate and a massive banyan tree.

Cross a main road and pass beneath the monorail running overhead, and suddenly you arrive at a temple wrapped in a sacred atmosphere. Rebuilt after the war, the relatively new buildings stand beside traditional Japanese Jizo statues, quietly radiating warmth.

A miraculous spring discovered when people noticed water birds gathering deep in the forest. The endlessly flowing water carries a strong sense of history.
