Let's learn and make "Shuzenji paper" with 1000 years of history!
Shuzenji Onsen town is located in the center of the Izu Peninsula. "Kamitani Washi Studio" is located 5 minutes by car upstream from there.
We continue to make "Shuzenji paper", a traditional Japanese paper that has been handed down in this area since ancient times in this studio.
You can get an extraordinary Japanese papermaking experience that you can't find anywhere else.
The workshop content is not limited to "making Japanese paper" as is common elsewhere.
We will explain the history of Japanese paper, how it came to exist in this world today, and how it is made using easy-to-understand materials.
We will also guide you to the fields where we grow the raw materials for Japanese paper.
The Katsura River flows nearby, the rural scenery spreading among the mountains, the beautiful singing of birds, and the seasonal flowers.
Everything is truly extraordinary, allowing you to forget the hustle and bustle of the city.
We are sure that you will be able to spend time that will give you an opportunity to look at yourself and the world through Japanese paper.
If you do not participate in the experience, no fee will be charged.
